WELFARE SECRETARY
Hey! I’m Naren, and I’m Welfare and Outreach Secretary for Warwick Mixed Hockey this year. My job is to try keep the club happy and healthy, and make sure your time in Mixed Hockey is as good for you as possible. I run drop in sessions every week for people to come have a chat, and help run the hockey families with our lovely Charity Sec Jenna. I also am responsible for volunteering initiatives that the club runs throughout the year, and am excited to make our club a helpful group in the local area. Overall, I am here to help us all have a lovely time, and be a person that you can always come talk to about anything.
As for me, I’m a 2nd(ish) year Maths and Philosophy student, known for both my vague disdain and love of both subjects. As for my spare time, most of it has been spent playing games with my friends and staring at the ceiling listening to Taylor Swift. How good this is for my sanity is certainly up for debate, but if you’re ever at training and think wow this music is so great I wonder who played this, it likely was not me, which I’m sure some of you may have ascertained from the Olivia Rodrigo reference earlier.
I’ve been in mixed since my first year, and as a very ok hockey player, love the opportunity to compete with and against really good players in a very chill environment. It’s a great environment where all the players are very willing to teach and help each other improve, and it really feels like a great community on and off the pitch. It’s a super welcoming group socially, and as someone who’s not exactly the most confident around new people, I always felt super welcomed by mixed when I joined, which is what I love most about the club as a whole. I’m excited to meet you all, hope we can all have a marvellous time, and I don’t ruin everything :)))
