With Captain Q leading the way we started brightly with an early attempt from Ella just slipping wide. After that however, we spent most of the rest of the half defending (quite magnificently I must say, shout out to the defenders!!). The medics kept probing closer and closer until eventually they managed to get a deflection in the carnage and score. 1-0. We tried to make our mark on the half with forays from Holly and Saz down the wing but unfortunately, we couldn’t quite break them down.
After a rousing halftime chit chat from Tommy and some wise words of wisdom from keeps we headed out with a plan (namely to end the half with more goals than them). The second half went much better and we were able to have lots more attempts on goal, including some tasty reverse shots from El and myself, a gorgeous drive from Tommy from about the halfway through several players and some good shots from Ella (sorry if I forgot anyone it was several days ago now so I’m hazy on details), but unfortunately we could not quite find the back of the net. Our defence remained solid however so the game ended 1-0 to the medics. And that is the ONLY thing of note in the second half, nothing else interesting happened WHATsoever. MOM: Tommy for some heroic last line defence and sexy drives in attack. DOD: Yours truly. Apparently if you get cramp (in the first 5 mins of the second half as well ffs) and Charlie says ‘take two minutes’ that doesn’t mean sit down (like in basically any other sport I’ve played). As has now been made quite clear to me, you’re meant to sub off at that point and not sit on the 23m line stretching your calves...you live and you learn I guess. Comments are closed.
